Welcome Our New Aging Well Coordinator

We are very pleased to announce that Rob Mapes is the new Coordinator for the Aging Well program. Rob has experience in program development, fundraising and administration specifically related to older adult services.  He also has significant experience working with older adult volunteers. Prior to receiving his Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan, Rob worked at Little Brothers—Friends of the Elderly, in Chicago, where he worked to relieve the loneliness and isolation of a group of approximately 80 older adults by visiting them, planning social activities and managing volunteers who worked directly with the older adults. Robert is proficient in Spanish and has spent considerable time volunteering in Latin America.

The Aging Well Transportation Guides Have Arrived!

Aging Well announces the distribution of a comprehensive Transportation Guide for Older Adults in Greater Lyons Township.

This guide was designed to help older adults better understand and access their transportation options.  The creation of this guide is a direct response to concerns the partnership heard from the community.  Lack of transportation options is consistently sited as a reason it can be difficult for older adults to remain a vital part of their community. While Lyons Township and its communities have a number of transportation options available to older adults, many people simply do not know the programs exist or how to access them.

Aging Well’s Transportation Guide is being distributed to local village and township offices and other community organizations. We will be happy to supply copies upon request. For more information about the Transportation Guide, please contact AgeOptions at (708)383-0258 or PeopleCare (708)442-1223. It is available in PDF format at www.agingwellpartnership.org.
